    Question of the Week
    August 15, 1999

How do you define "fitting in", in the context of your school?

    to fit in be anerexic
    some one

To fit in at my school you have to wear all the "trendy" cloths. For girls the skin tight "girly girl" cloths with the heals and a tan fresh from the tanning salon. For the guys it's the wonderful oh-so kool style of the pants that are a million sizes too big and all that ugly huge jewerly. It also consists of going out every weekend and getting trashed then comming to school Monday and bragging about all the stupid things you did while you were trashed, and going out and sleeping with guys and braging about that. I don't fit in at school, and im rather proud of that fact.

At my school, in order to "fit in" you must dress accordingly, be able to afford lots of expensive clothing, have a nice car, highlighted hair (for girls), and you should like partying and drinking beer. It's better if you are involved in sports and are smart (even though you goof off in class). Also "fitting in" almost requires that you are snotty, or rude to certain people.

Fitting in at my school usually means that a person is althletic, good-looking, loves to party, wears the "trendy" clothes, and can be quite snobbish to anyone that isn't in their crowd. Unfortunately I go to a high school that consists of nothing but cliques. So if a person doesn't fit the right decription, they're not as widely accepted be everyone.

At my school, there are so many different cliques that I couldn't just give one definition. There are the goths, the yuppies, the ghettoians(i am aware that isn't a word), the wannabe ghettoians, the psychos(proud to be part of that group), the sluts, the hard-asses, and about fifty others. Everyone has somewhere to fit in and there isn't just one type of person that is popular.

My highschool isn't bad about that. I'm luck, I guess. I mean, in middle school it was awful, you had to be pretty and skinny and dress really well, etc. Now I wear what looks okay but is comfortable, and everyone's a different shape and size. I mean, there are people who have advantages because of who their parents are, or something, but it's not so bad that i can't handle it.

Let's see...hmm...(for girls)you need to be speak english fluently, white or off-white, long hair, wear heels and love to gossip about guys.(for guys) you need to be white, tall, ugly bleach blonde hair, wear the so-called "cool" clothes and swear in practically everysingle sentence.

you have to wear capri pants, wear white tennis shoes that have 4 inch soles, be annoying and superficial, and be polynesian. (i don't fit in at my school)
