    Question of the Week
    June 08, 1999

It seems that we are having alot of negative feedback from people who frequent the site about the monitoring procedure and we would like to ask for your feedback and constructive criticism about the concerns that you have.

To Whom it May Concern: I have to admit that I was extremely concerned when the changes originally occurred at the site. I could not believe that as a group, we were not trusted, despite the fact that we are the country's "future". However, I have not been around for a week or so, and I seemed to have missed out on all of this stuff that was going on, yet after reading the accounts, my opinion has changed. Although I would like a bit more freedom, I also was gullible enough to believe that the people at the DP were responsible enough to use their new-found freedom wisely, and appreciate the fact that the DP listened to us, and tried to accomadate our concerns. Unfortunately, it seems that we are not mature enough to handle the responsibility. If you want to be trusted, show that you are trustworthy. This is OUR fault that the DP is this way, and I applaud the DP for trying to come to a suitable agreement. This is THEIR site, so why don't we just try to respect the rules for a while? Maybe we can earn back our freedom, but complaining really doesn't do any good if we aren't willing to compromise. Sidhe*

I used to come here a lot - I mean, it was addictive, because I loved hearing people speak on anything - and now, my whole view on what dp is and why it is here has been changed. I can see why you like having the monitoring of entries, but when you changed the site and made that happen, I personally think dp became a place where I feel like I had to write something really steller so it could be put on. Or that my problem had to be REALLY important for the monitors to choose that the world should look at it. And I don't think that's a great feeling. You didn't want to limit people from speaking their ideas, but you have, and I think something should be changed.

it was better how it was a while ago when our entries were posted immediately but we could warn the moderator about a story that wasnt good. we need to be able to have the entries posted quickly because there have been entries that needed immediate responses to them.

I agree 100% with everyone who dislikes the monitoring procedure. We have all heard a curse word in our lives. My personal opinion is everything should be posted and i think that we are old enough to ignore the stupid stuff. I'm sure alot of people agree with me. Please, please do us all a favor and change it back. thanx

i posted here and said the monitoring sucked but now dp sucks. I think the sight should be monitored-but maybe after things are posted, someone could just go and delete the ones that are useless, blank pages, the ones that are not asking for help. You can tell the difference between who is posting and who is just taking advantage of the no monitors.

This sight now is kind-of stupid. I don't think I have seen anyone who likes it. Please change it back!

First, it takes way too long for entries to be posted. Second, this is a diary. We should be allowed to write about what we want. Three, we all hear profanity in our everyday lives. We are use to it. In short, WE DON'T LIKE THE MONITORING THING!!!!

I really dont like this monitor thing!!! and it takes so long for the entrys to be posted, what if some1 is really depessed that night and wants to kill themselves and needs so anwsers, but you guys post it to late? Our family here at dp are hear to help people, who cares if something nasty is posted.

i understand the reason for monitering entries. but i have been coming here for 10 months, and i still see no reason to have to moniter them. nothing has been posted on here (that i have seen) that i couldn't just ignore. real people have real problems, no matter how gross they may seem. people lives shouldn't be monitered and deemed unacceptable.

This is, after all, a diary. I pour my heart and soul into one every night and sometimes I put it here. Our lives consist of many aspects. What we think, feel, beieve, and do are not always agreed upon by others but we are being us. I think the whole monitering thing is over rated. Yes, some people can be profane and vulgar but they are being themselves, as strange as it may be to our on person. Let us have our own words and freedoms. All and all, things don't really matter.

I really dilike the monitoring procedure- I have noticed that the entry count goes up but it takes so long for new entries to be posted. I used to come here more often, before you started to monitor the entries. It is a "diary" and if people are opening up to the world basicly they should accept what others have to say to them- unfortunetly the real world can be cruel and unkind! We just have to make the best of it.

You've already heard from me and about how I thought the Diary Project is now to contoling. I understand that certain things can't be posted because of content but as I've sadi before, what if your life or your problems don't confirm with what someone else deems acceptable? There are problems out there that are not so clean cut or happy. I liked and approved of the old way of doing it. I personally feel that we should be allowed to post what we want, without it being checked over and then if it is extremmly unacceptable, delete it. That seems much more simple. And remember, we are growing up in the 90's. Things today rarely shock or offend us anymore.

i think it is stupid how you have it now. i think you should change it back. i think most people would agree with that. maybe you should think about that!
