Question of the Week
September 08, 2000
What do you think about these attitude t-shirts being marketed to girls that have slogans like "Boys Are Liars", "Better Than A Boy" or "Boys Are Poison"?
|
How about a "Girls Smell Like Fish T-Shirt?" jason
What if these t-shirts said "Blacks are liars," or "Better than a Black?" It would be something straight out of the Klan. Girls are the new hate mongers of this century. America is raising a whole generation of female chauvinists! JT
I dont really care but, it seems to me that if a boy wore a t-shirt saying "girls are sad" or "girls lie" you can imagine the up roar that would cause!! Why should guys be treated any differently? adzar
I'm not one to take stuff like this seriously, but since you're asking....I don't know if it should be taken seriously or not. Girls have been treated like they were less than guys for a long time, and now they're just trying to get to the same level as men (for some reason they still think we think of them as less). I think everyone needs to just chill out. Marques
haha, this is all just really lame!
It cracks me up that people are making such a big deal about it. It's nothing bad. Actually, it's stupid. WHO CARES? SparkleBlues*
It cracks me up when I see little 12 year olds that are wearing those shirts... what's REAL funny is when people that are like 16-17 wearing them..that's just HILARIOUS poopZsnotZ
I think that it is kinda lame to just wear a shirt that is putting guys down. I personally want to be friends still with all my guy friends so I think they are pretty gay and any girl wearing one probably is just wearing it cuz guys don't like her!!! Nicole

I can't say I like them. I mean, I'm proud of being who I am-girl, athlete, smart, independant. I don't think that I need to go around wearing T-shirts that put down others just to boost my ego. Plus, I have some good friends that are guys, and, just like with girlfriends, I don't think that it would be nice to offend them. mangotango
Maybe men have been putting down women all these years, but most of the girls that wear these T-shirts haven't experienced sexism. The little femenists who wear things like these are just keeping themselves at a distance from most boys because they're scared of any type of relationship. Bad Adviceman
I really don't care. It's not a big deal. And you girls need to stop with all this "That's mean!" crap. Do u have any idea how many years women were put down by men??? It still happens...so who cares if we retaliate with a T SHIRT? Personally, I think that's A LOT nicer than getting paid less for the same job. SparkleBlues*
I have a bumper sticker that says "Boys Lie" but that's about all the boy-bashing I'll do. I think that if a guy walked around with a "Girls Drool" shirt on or something along that lines, they would get major sh*t for it. But who knows. I haven't seen it yet. carlita
A few are funny and clever but the ones who just shout "Better Than A Boy" aren't. It is important for girls to feel good about themselves, but not at the expense of someone else. When people get picked on it is often by someone who is insecure for themselves. Why should this be any different? Personally, I wouldn't wear these shirts simply b/c I don't think I'm better just b/c I am a girl. I don't think boys are better either. Can't we just get along?! Precious_Jewels
who cares violin05
i think it's great.... Jenn
They're stupid and I laugh at anyone who wears them. I'm not a snob or anything, it's just that it's so stupid..."boys are poison"? Come on. And some say "Boys lie". Yeah, girls lie too, you know. Casey
