Religious Clash
by comradeonthevolga, 14, male

October 3, 2005

Dear Diary,
My mother is a strong believer in god. She is Lutheran, and I think has always
had a desire to raise a family of Lutherans. My father, on the other hand, is
what I'll call a "doubtful agnostic." He has always taught me to question
authority and thinks the bible is a religious propaganda document. When I was
younger, (too young to worry about religion) this was never much of an issue.
However, around the age of 12, I began to really start thinking about such
things. As it turns out I pretty much have the same beliefs as my father. I'm
happy with this, but, not surprisingly, my mom is a little distressed. We
generally have several "discussions" about religion every week, and they can be
pretty heated. It's annoying because we otherwise all get along very well.
